Toronto Public Library – Runnymede
The Runnymede Public Library received a contemporary award-winning building addition in 2005 while with majority of the existing heritage library remained unchanged. Our project included a two storey renovation of the original portion of the historically designated building with upgrades to the main and side entrances.
The existing areas were reorganized to create a new entry sequence and the integration of new library computer/media technologies. A new centrally located computer commons area was created in the “hinge” of the library where old meets new. White oak was used to reference the heritage wood work with modern details and accents of vibrant colours and materiality.
