Candy Factory Loft Penthouse

Toronto, Ontario

The Candy Factory Lofts is a century old, six storey, timber post and beam structure that was once home to the Ce De Candy Factory Company. This particular project renovated and reconfigured an existing two story penthouse residence within the building.

The generating ideas of our design were interconnection of spaces, borrowed natural light, natural materials and crafted details.

A new large floor opening was created to bring natural light into the middle of the main floor and also allowed for a new generous open-riser steel stair.  A large operable exterior glass wall was installed between the lounge and teak clad roof top terrace allowing for a strong connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. A series of large operable wood and patterned glass panels borrow natural daylight and permit the flexible use of spaces and varying degrees of privacy between the entry foyer and adjacent study
